Come and Try Dragon Boating

Ever wanted to try Dragonboating?  This is your opportunity to come along to a session for new paddlers. You'll learn the basic techniques of paddling, and then go for a paddle down the river with the crew. Following the paddle there will be a social BBQ in the park.

Tuesday Night Training

With Spring starting this week, Tuesday night training will return to the regular time of 6:30pm start. Once numbers allow we will also re instate Thursday night training as well.

Winter Warmer Wrap-up

The 2022-23 session officially kicked off with the Winter Warmer event at Kurnell.  Despite some strong winds and choppy paddling conditions, a great morning was had by all, followed by a team lunch  at the local cafe.

Winter Training Schedule

It has become apparent that the current training schedule is not suitable for the majority of members during the colder months of winter. Read on to learn more about when you can paddle with us over the next few months.

Social paddle to Como and lunch

Join us for a social paddle to Como on the 29th May followed by lunch at the Como pub. Numbers permitting we envisage having two boats make the journey to Como. The invitation is open to all regular, bran nu day and Dragon pass members that would like to come along.

State Championships, and Easter

Due to factors out of our control, the board has decided not to enter a crew in this year’s State Championships. Tonight’s training as well as this coming Saturday and Tuesday are cancelled to allow the river some time to clean up

Gold! Gold! Gold!

It was a great weekend for our Junior girls who took out the Gold medal in all 3 catagories at the Australian Championships in Adelaide competing for Sandy Point. 200m GOLD 500m GOLD 2000m GOLD

Come and Try Dragon Boating

Sandy Point Dragons is holding a "Come and Try" Open Day for anyone who would like to experience the fun of dragon boating. Whether you've never done it before, or have but want to give it another go, come along and join us. Paddles and lifejackets (if needed) will be supplied. 

2022 Sydney Lunar Festival Report

30+ Sandy Point Dragons paddlers set off bright and early on Saturday, February 5th, to participate in the 2022 Sydney Lunar Festival Dragon Boat Races in Darling Harbour, the largest event on the NSW dragon boating calendar. We entered boats in the Senior B Mixed, Premier Mixed, Women and Open, and Junior Mixed (combined with Danebank) and Women (Danebank) categories.

Introducing Dragon Pass

If you have thought about trying dragon boating but weren't sure where to start, we have good news for you!  The new DRAGON PASS is a free temporary membership that allows you to paddle with your local dragon boat club for an entire month free-of-charge. After you register you can join any of our regular training sessions for the next 28 days. 

Dobroyd Race Report

A great effort by all yesterday at Dobroyd. Adults and juniors (Danebank and Sandy Point) combined to form a Premier Mixed boat, paddled very well, made the Minor Final, and gained a solid 3rd place. This was followed up with a 1+ km race around Rodd Island to finish off regatta.

Club Christmas Party

Put on your Santa hats for our Xmas party! The event will be held at the Sandy Point Community Centre hall. All members and their families are welcome. See the Events listing for more details.

Take a look at the Events page for a list of upcoming club events. This includes regattas, championship races as well as club events. Keep an eye on TeamApp to indicate your interest in participating in these events.

Welcome back BBQ

Saturday October 23  is our first day back on the water with an easy social paddle at 8am followed by a welcome back BBQ at 9:30 at the clubhouse. Any members coming for training , please check in on TeamApp. If you are paddling we will asume you are staying for the BBQ. If you are not ready to jump back in the boat but happy to come to the BBQ can you please let us know on TeamApp so we can cater for numbers.

DBNSW latest update

The start date for the 2021-2022 season is dependent on the directive from the Office of Sport and NSW Health regarding the resumption of Community Sport. As a result of the recent announcements by the NSW Government we have made the tough, however essential decision, to cancel both Race 1 and Race 2 of the DBNSW Regatta Series
